1999 Manta 40 Catamaran – Hull #42

Robust Early-Production Manta | Bahamas-Ready | Live-aboard Capable | Extensively Equipped

If you are looking for a proven cruising catamaran built for extended time on the water, this 1999 Manta 40 deserves a closer look.

Hull #42 was built during the period when the Manta 40 was still under Endeavor Yachts ownership. These earlier Manta 40s are particularly appreciated by cruising sailors for their robust construction, substantial forward cross beam, shallow draft and practical design. Originally purchased with virtually every available option, this catamaran has been extensively equipped and upgraded for serious cruising and comfortable live-aboard use. It was designed to spend extended periods in places such as the Bahamas without relying on marina power or shore-based services.

Built for Cruising

With a draft of only 3'8", the Manta 40 is exceptionally well suited for the shallow waters of Florida, the Keys and the Bahamas. Its keel and sail drive configuration offers another practical advantage: the sail drives are positioned behind the keels, helping protect them in the event of grounding. The boat can also settle onto its keels as the tide goes out, making this an especially practical design for shallow-water cruising.

For short-handed sailors, an electric winch and sail-control lines led to the cockpit make the boat manageable for a cruising couple or even single-handed sailing.

A Catamaran Designed to Get Away From the Dock

What makes this Manta particularly interesting is not simply the equipment list. It is how all of these systems work together.

Solar power, wind generation, a diesel generator, substantial battery capacity, a watermaker, twin diesels, shallow draft and extensive cruising equipment were all selected with one goal in mind: the ability to cruise comfortably and independently for extended periods.

For someone dreaming of exploring the Bahamas, Florida Keys or beyond—or looking for a capable full-time live-aboard—Hull #42 offers an impressive combination of space, equipment, shallow-water capability and proven Manta design.
